Disney vs. Miyazaki: A comparison of female protagonists

While I love both Disney and Miyazaki movies, this is an interesting comparison

This is why I love Miyazaki and at most tolerate Disney. Miyazaki has legitimate strong female characters and Disney… well, it’s Disney. Princes save princesses.

but the princesses are based on fairy tales where this totally happened, often to worse degrees! the disney girls aren’t role models, they’re W I S H F U L L F I L L M E N T S. disney has role models too! like merida! and they’re adapting a fairy tale that has a role model female protagonist!

I love Miyazaki more than Disney (I still like Disney though), but really is there anything wrong with being saved by a prince?

I think I know about this picture. I heard about the story on dA a long time ago.

There was this Japanese girl on pivix who drew this. She took it down because many people were ridiculing it saying things like, “So you think world peace is that easy, huh?” She took it down and posted an apology.

It was a rough translation by a fellow deviant so I don’t know the whole story.It was a long time ago so maybe she put it back up.

I can’t believe how rude people are, this is a beautiful piece of artwork. If anything it shows the artist believes in hope for the world, and definitely DOES NOT deserve to be ridiculed like that.
